Agility Robotics' New Digi 5 Robot Can Be Recharged in Nine Minutes and Operates for Up to 20 Hours
They introduced the Digi 5 humanoid robot, which stands 180 cm tall and weighs 129 kg. Its battery provides a 90‑minute operating time but can be recharged in just nine minutes, allowing it to perform material handling tasks in warehouses for up to 20 hours.
Agility Robotics introduced the Digi 5, an 180‑centimeter‑tall humanoid robot designed for warehouse and manufacturing plant environments. The machine weighs 129 kilograms and can carry a maximum load of 22.7 kilograms.
The standout innovation is the nine‑minute charging time: its battery offers a 90‑minute operating life but can be recharged in just nine minutes. This allows it to return to the charging station multiple times per day while still being able to work for up to 20 hours.
The Digi 5 hardware was redesigned based on lessons learned from the previous Digi 4. Modifying the legs increased payload capacity by 40 %, and the robot’s height rose from 1.68 meters to 2.2 meters, while it can still pass through standard doorways. The robot has 30 motors that are controlled roughly 1,000 times per second.
According to Agility Robotics, the first order was worth $300 million, and the Digi 5 will be delivered in early 2027. The RoboFab plant can produce up to 10,000 units a year.
