Claude is Its Own Developer: 26% in Research

Anthropic announced that the Claude chatbot already handles more than a quarter of research and development tasks. This means the AI is developing itself, rapidly approaching recursive self‑developing systems.

Anthropic announced that the Claude chatbot takes over 26% of research and development tasks. The company says this percentage rose from 0 to its current level in just a few months.

The company stated that during this period Claude led the work while humans acted as observers and guides. The previous value in February was still 0%.

Anthropic did not specify how likely full autonomous operation is, but emphasized that currently there is no point at which Claude operates without human involvement. The company uses 30,000 AI agents for research and engineering tasks.

The company also made public that recently it allocated 50% of its computing capacity to security work.
