Anthropic, OpenAI and Other Major Labs Agree on Rapid AI Development

In Matt Wolfe's video, the CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, responded to his article "We Must Pace the Frontier," with several tech leaders emphasizing the fast pace. Zuckerberg, however, stressed that responsible development must proceed without regulation. The conversation aims to find the right pace for AI governance.

Matt Wolfe summarized the weekly AI news, highlighting Anthropic and OpenAI's concerns about rapid progress.

Dario Amodei outlined a three‑step plan: introduce external third‑party evaluators, impose export restrictions to China, protect intellectual property, and foster global collaboration. Several leaders from major labs – Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Satya Nadella, Demis Hassabis – responded to the article, all agreeing with the accelerated pace.

Zuckerberg expressed opposition: laboratories have their own responsibility for developing safe models, so they should not wait for regulation. Wolfe emphasized that AI should only be released into the free market when it has been proven safe, and independent evaluators are necessary.

The goal of the conversation is to find the appropriate pace: rapid development but responsible governance. Wolfe called attention to the fact that the industry already applies best practices and that broad collaboration is needed.

Among the new developments presented in the video are Claude's new project structure, Gemini Notebook voice note‑taking, Siri AI features, as well as Alibaba Quinn 3.8 Omni Flash and Union Alpha models.
