YouTube Introduces AI-Powered Personalized News Feed
Google announced on Wednesday that YouTube will soon allow users to specify the desired mood or topic in natural language for its Custom feeds feature. With AI assistance, users can tailor their video lists and revert to the default algorithm at any time.
The Google announcement revealed that YouTube will soon offer a new Custom feeds feature. Users can describe in natural language what "mood" or theme they want to see in their feed—for example, the latest news or an evening unwind with long documentary films.
AI transforms the video platform’s algorithm based on the given textual instruction, so the content better aligns with user preferences. If the personalized feed does not meet expectations, users can return to the normal YouTube algorithm at any time or adjust the settings.
The feature is currently only available in the United States, but Google has not ruled out future expansion into European markets. Similar AI-based personalization efforts are being explored by Spotify and Instagram as well, though those are still under development.
