Stressors and AI Use Are Included in the Eötvös Student Survey

On September 23, 2023, Eötvös Loránd University sent a survey via the Neptun system that examined students' well‑being, financial situation, and use of AI. The ministry’s goal is to develop higher education strategy.

The questionnaire consisted of 42 questions; it first collected statistical data—age, level of education, training financing—and then evaluated students’ mood and energy based on the WHO Well‑Being Index. The biggest stressors identified were academic workload, livelihood, housing, privacy, uncertainty about future prospects, health status, and social exclusion.

Questions regarding financial situation included the possibility of continuing studies without employment, number of weekly working hours, readiness to spend 100 000 Ft, and frequency of financial difficulties. Questions also covered satisfaction with the training, transparency of requirements, and perceived impact of student evaluations.

The quality of dormitory services and the use of AI in learning—based on anonymous responses—were addressed as separate questions. Finally, students were asked about preparation for the labour market and practice‑oriented training, highlighting contested aspects of university flexibility.
